The Burkhardt Beer Club is for people who like beer. Not in the sense of swilling down can after can of some watered down domestic garbage. Rather, this is for people who genuinely like the taste of a well crafted beer, and like to share new beer and new brewery finds with others.
Personally, I enjoy trying beers from other countries. When I travel, I like to try what the locals drink. More often than not, those brews are delicious (the locals CHOOSE to drink them) and are impossible to find at home.
I am also a newbie in the field of homebrewing. It's a great hobby, and I know there are many people who really take it seriously, but for now I just brew for fun. Let the professionals do their jobs and I will enjoy the fruits of their labors.
So... tell me about your favorite beers.

Just wondering what does one need to get into home brewing a sfar as equipment, ingrediants intital start up costs? Can these things be found locally?
Dear anonymous...
I started with a Mr. Beer kit that my kids bought me for Christmas. You can order them on-line for under $50. A case of 20 oz. bottles is about $10, a capper is about $20, and a gross of caps is about $6. That's about as cheap and simple as you can get.
If you want to go a little more advanced than that; Northern Brewer (they ship anywhere) has some good starter kits for about $100. Once you have the basic equipment, you'll only need to buy the ingrediants. Figure around $15-$20 for a recipe kit that will yield 2 cases of 20 oz. bottle.
Depending on where you live, there might be stores that carry this stuff too. Check you yellow pages under homebrewing or wine making. I will add links for Northern Brewer and Mr. Beer to my blog page. Thanks for your question.

Do you have anything to do with the Man Laws we see commercials on?
Yes, the Man Laws are all mine, so you'd better be careful. Donald Rumsfeld took a toll sip from someone's beer at the last Pats/Colts game and look what happened to him.
Janet Jackson's wardrobe malfunction at Super Bowl XXXVIII was my work too, so don't judge me too harshly.
Everytime I try to put an Egg in my bottle of beer, the shell cracks and I get yolk and whites running down the side of my bottle. Do you have any advise or should I just use cans?
You'd better stick to cans. Anything good enough to put in a bottle would wasted on your palate.
My wife gets real bad beer farts especially after a night of heavy beer consumption and tacos. Almost as bad as this lady that used to work in our purchasing department. Any advise?
What the hell, do I LOOK like Ann Landers??? Never mind, don't answer that. I too seem to recall an extremely gaseous co-worker at a former employer. If your wife is that bad, you must really love her to still be married.
Okay, you wanted my advice, so here it is: Good beer doesn't give you gas, so it must be the tacos. Steer her away from those if she's been on a bender. If that doesn't work, light a few romantic candles and blow her ass out of bed.
Good luck.
Do you like Blatz?
Any beer is good when a friend is buying.
Do you think Yoda from Star Wars looks like he does from bitter beer face?
Down here we drink beer that we like. Not something just to try to prove that we are different. We got over that stage in high school. I can appreciate trying new brews from time to time, but we don't refer to our favorite brew as watered domestic garbage. Apparently you all have a different view of beer in the blue states.
We drink what we like "up here" too, and it's not to prove we're different. Let's just say I personally am not a big fan of huge beer conglomerates. I'll admit they have consistant quality, but there's no character. I don't speak for my entire state, I only speak for myself. If you like watered down beer with no character; good for you. It's a free country, and I appreciate you taking the time to post your opinion (albeit anonymously). My blog page probably won't interest you much though.
As for my state being "blue", that's only because it's so frigg'n cold up here.
